Master Frans Stroeven



Short version of Stroeven's story: he began with Judo at the age of 5 with the great Anton Geesink - Dutch Olympic and World Champion in Judo. At the age of 12, he became champion of his Judo Team. When he was 16 years old, he started training different kinds of Martial Arts, like; Wing Chun Kung-Fu from Grandmaster Wang Kiu, for eight years Latosa Escrima from Bill Newman, became a Nunchaku Instructor under Milco Lambrecht, Jeet Kune Do Concept from Larry Hartsell and the original Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do from Tim Tackett.

Frans Stroeven spend many training hours in the Philippines -the country where Eskrima all started. In the Philippines he trained constantly with many Grandmasters, like; The Budo System with Loloy Uy, Knife-techniques with Inting Caring, Balintawak System with Esing Atillo and the Doce Pares Multi Style System with Dionisio Cañete.

Now Stroeven is training with - first generation Doce Pares Eskrima - Grandmaster Cacoy Cañete! 

Frans Stroeven is a great personality over there. They have never seen an individual doing Eskrima-moves like he does! They are unique! Unique in his own way, The people of the Philippines invite him not only to demonstrate his unique skills on television, seminars, army bases, police forces but he even showed his quality skills at an Masters Seminar in Cebu City in the year 2004!

Frans Stroeven is the European President of Doce Pares Eskrima. Thanks to Stroeven, Eskrima is now popular in many countries as; The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romaine,Lithuania. And more countries will follow, believe that!. You can learn in Europe the pure way of Doce Pares Eskrima, the way it's mend to be. Home base of 'Eskrima by Frans Stroeven' is Utrecht, but he travels through Europe to give seminars, demonstrations and to find potential instructors for spreading the contagious Eskrima-flow! There's no stopping Stroeven now, just like there was no stopping him at the beginning! The Doce Pares Eskrima is evolving, energetic, powerful, tough and unstoppable.
